Best Cherry Blossom Hotel in Tokyo
Why Best?: Vast 215K sqft Japanese Garden, Great quality as a hotel, nearby Kanda River is famous Sakura viewing spot.
What is Hanami?
Have you ever seen cherry blossoms? It’s very beautiful – and that’s probably why you’re reading this page right now! Thanks😊
The cherry blossoms are indeed beautiful but extremely short-lived. This fleeting nature reflects a unique Japanese appreciation for impermanence, which is why cherry trees are planted all across Japan.
This tradition of enjoying cherry blossoms, called hanami, has been part of Japanese culture for over 1,000 years. People celebrate by walking under cherry trees, having picnics beneath them (and drinking beer getting tipsy😂), viewing them at night, and enjoying sakura-flavored treats.
FYI: Tokyo’s top 3 cherry blossom spots are Meguro River, Ueno Park, and Chidorigafuchi.
When to See Cherry Blossoms in Japan?
Cherry blossoms are incredibly precious because their season is so short – typically lasting only about a week. Even after blooming, the flowers can fall quickly if there are extremely cold days or strong winds.
Latest Forecast: Cherry Blossom Forecasts for 2025 (as of Jan 9)
The first Cherry Blossom Forecast for 2025 was released on January 9th!
According to the forecast, Tokyo’s cherry blossoms will start blooming on March 24th and reach full bloom by March 31st. However, each forecast is slightly different, so stay tuned for the next update. There are about 15 cherry blossom forecasts released each year.
Historical Cherry Blossom Forecasts in the Past Three Years
Here’s the recent actual cherry blossom data for Tokyo:
- 2024: First bloom March 29, Full bloom April 4
- 2023: First bloom March 14, Full bloom March 22
- 2022: First bloom March 20, Full bloom March 27
You can generally expect to see cherry blossoms if you’re in Tokyo during late March. Also note that Osaka and Kyoto often bloom a few days earlier than Tokyo!
Whether you’ll actually see them at their peak? Well, it’s all about luck! Though I’d say your chances are better than seeing the Northern Lights! 😊
Best Days Spring 2025 in Tokyo
Based on historical trends, you’ll most likely see cherry blossoms in Tokyo during late March 2025, from 23th to 31st March. If you wait until April, the blossoms might be gone or starting to fall.
However, this is just our best guess – nothing is guaranteed! Please don’t blame Locals in Japan if Mother Nature has other plans! 😅
As there will be more forecasts coming towards the full blloom and we’ll keep updating them in this page! (Follow us on Pinterest or Instagram so you don’t miss any updates!)
