Luxury Hotels in Tokyo
Since luxury hotels have various unique features, I’ve created a simple diagram to help organize them.
While there can be different approaches to categorization, I primarily classify these hotels as either modern or traditional based on their opening dates. The Okura Tokyo is a traditional five-star hotel with over 60 years of history. However, it was completely rebuilt in 2019 into a beautiful new property and has been receiving exceptional reviews from guests.
In my personal opinion, if you’re visiting Japan, I highly recommend staying at a five-star Japanese brand hotel where you can experience authentic Japanese hospitality and history. Which one? My favorite is The Okura Tokyo.
FYI, the newest addition to this collection is The Janu Tokyo, which opened in March 2024.
