If you’re visiting Nagoya for the first time, I recommend staying in either the Nagoya Station area or Sakae district, which is Nagoya’s main entertainment district. Other areas are better considered as local neighborhoods.
If you’re planning to visit Ghibli Park, staying near Nagoya Station is particularly recommended since buses and trains to the park depart from there!
Nagoya Station
This is where the Shinkansen from Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka stops. Here you can easily access trains to anywhere, plus find lots of good shopping and local restaurants. If you love downtown, choose Sakae area but otherwise this area should be very convenient.
Sakae
Sakae is Nagoya’s largest entertainment district. It has everything concentrated in one area – shopping, dining, and accommodation options. If you enjoy bustling downtown areas, you can’t go wrong here!
