Odaiba, Toyosu, Ariake

This area is Tokyo’s indoor playground hub, found in shopping malls. It is perfect for families! Parents can shop & dine while kids play. Odaiba has 3 malls (Decks, Aqua City, and DiverCity Tokyo) with many playgrounds.

If your itinerary meets, we recommend to come here in weekdays, as weekends get crowded with locals.

Insider tip: DiverCity Tokyo (google map) is the newest mall in Odaiba. It has restaurants, food court, Zara, Uniqlo, H&M, Toysrus, Little Planet the indoor playground… and a lot more including gigantic Gundam statue. You can walk in between 2 other nearby malls Decks Tokyo and Aqua City Odaiba.

If you need to buy necessary things for kids (baby food, diaper, clothes and etc), visit Toysrus/Babiesrus in Aqua City 1st floor or Nishimatsuya in Decks Tokyo 4th floor. Nishimatsuya, if you’ve never visited before, is a hidden gem and a must go place.😍

👉If your children are 7 or older, Tokyo Joypolis in Odaiba Decks Tokyo is a amusement park and worth a visit.

Shibuya, Shinjuku and more

Places like Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Ikebukuro were once barren zones lacking good playgrounds. However, in 2024, Pasela Group, known for its karaoke shops, opened several family-friendly Beruberu Parks across the city. These facilities offer private rooms with kids’ play areas, free drinks, karaoke, and dining. You can now find them in popular tourist spots like Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Ginza, and Akihabara. Be sure to check them out if you have the chance!

Suidobashi

Suidobashi is famous for Tokyo Dome City, which includes Tokyo Dome, a hotel, an amusement park, Spa LaQua (a hot spring spa facility), and a shopping mall, providing a full day of fun. Within this complex, you’ll find our top recommended indoor playground, Asobono, which we’ll introduce next. It’s such an enjoyable place for children aged 0-6 that they surely won’t want to leave…😄

👉Want to ride a roller coaster zipping between buildings? Head to Tokyo Dome City in Suidobashi! FYI, I don’t. I’m not a fan of any roller coasters.lol

Asakusa, Tokyo Skytree

If your children seem bored in Asakusa, take them to the 4th floor of the building EKIMISE Asakusa directly connected to the station. Although not very spacious, you’ll find an indoor playground called Kid’s Land US Asakusa.

Tokyo Skytree is a highly recommended spot, not just for the tower itself, but also for its large mall, aquarium, restaurants, and souvenir shops.

We really love going there for play, eat and shop. It has a huge car park too. Within this beautiful mall, there’s an indoor playground called Chikyu-no-niwa (Earth’s Garden). It’s a clean and recommended place!

👉If you visit Tokyo Skytree’s observation deck at 450m (1,476ft), enjoy Tokyo’s panorama and brave the glass floor!

Takeshiba

You may not have heard of Takeshiba, but the nearest station is Takeshiba Station on the monorail line “Yurikamome“.

Inside the clean Atre Takeshiba mall, you’ll find an indoor playground called CULAFUL.

In addition to the playground, it uniquely features a daycare center and an adjacent restaurant. The play area is not vast; rather, it’s on the smaller side and well-maintained.

Based on our personal experience of taking children there, we believe the optimal age range is from 1 to around 4 or 5 years old. It’s not very crowded on weekdays and relatively uncrowded even on weekends.
