Planning a trip to Tokyo with 5 or more people? You’ve probably already hit a wall.
Most hotels force you to book two separate rooms, which means your accommodation cost doubles and the family gets split up.

However, if you prefer full service, I’ve also listed the best Hotels with Connecting Rooms below.

Top 5 Apartment Hotels in Tokyo (Best for 5+ People)
Most travelers look for “MIMARU” first because it’s been becoming so popular and now is the gold standard for family hotels. However, MIMARU sells out relatively fast.
If MIMARU is full, don’t worry. I have selected 3 other “Hidden Gem” brands (&Here, MONday, Minn) and last one but the least “Hyatt” that offer the same comfort—spacious rooms, kitchens, and in-room laundry—often at a better price.
Conclusion: If you find a room in any of the quality 5 brands below, better to book it soon before sold out.
This is the ultimate choice for large families. All rooms are suites with 2 bedrooms or more. Unlike regular hotels, it comes with a full kitchen and, most importantly, an in-room washer/dryer. It accommodates 6+ people comfortably, feeling like a luxury condo.
Opened in 2024. 70% of the rooms are designed for families (4+ people). It offers spacious suites for up to 6 people and fun bunk bed rooms. Located right in front of Ueno Park (Shinobazu Pond), the “Park View” is breathtaking. Don’t miss the large public bath (Spa) on the top floor!
This is a rapidly growing chain that is explosively popular among travelers who find MIMARU fully booked or too expensive. By using bunk beds, up to 5-6 people can stay in one room comfortably. In-room washer/dryer and kitchen are standard here too.
Concept: “Your Second Home.” Minn has many locations across Tokyo. They use advanced technology like smartphone check-in, making it highly recommended for guests who dislike waiting in line or have late-night flight arrivals. The rooms are modern, stylish, and fully equipped with a kitchen.
If you have a higher budget and want to stay in the heart of Shibuya, this is the one. It combines the reliability of the Hyatt brand with apartment features (Kitchen/Laundry). Bonus: It has a rare indoor pool!
Top 5 Unique Hotels for Large Families (Not Apartments)
While apartment hotels are great for functionality, these 5 hotels offer unforgettable experiences.
From a converted Sumo stable to a private sauna suite, these hotels turn your stay into a highlight of the trip. Best of all, they all have rooms that fit 6 people!
Located 2 mins from Ikebukuro Station. The “Family Suite” features two bunk beds, creating a secret base atmosphere that kids absolutely love. The biggest highlight? Every room comes with a large bath and a private SAUNA (Mist or Dry). It is the perfect place to relax with your family after walking all day.
The most practical solution for a family of 6. Their “Connecting Rooms” allow you to combine two rooms into one large space. This means you get 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets! Getting 6 people ready in the morning is stress-free here. Located right next to Tokyo Station, it’s perfect for Shinkansen travelers.
An “Art Storage” concept hotel. The “Moderate Bunk Group” room features 3 bunk beds, accommodating up to 6 people comfortably. Shower and toilet are in the room.
⚠️ Note: On Agoda, look for “Moderate Group Room” when booking. Only 2 rooms available!
Connected to Shibuya’s landmark “MIYASHITA PARK.” The “Bunk Bed 6” room has 3 sturdy, stylish bunk beds. It feels like a luxurious school trip! Your kids and teens will love the cool vibe. Shopping, dining, and the park are all at your doorstep.
A renovated Sumo Stable! This hotel is full of Japanese culture. The Deluxe Suite accommodates up to 6 people with a spacious living area (Tatami mats). Some rooms even feature an Open-air bath. A truly unique experience in Asakusa.
